Precinct Delegates Make a Difference

Precinct Delegates are voting members of the Republican Party who are eligible to vote for party leadership, help select nominees for Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Board of Education, University Trustees and Regents, and Supreme Court Justices.

Precinct Delegates are elected on the August primary ballot in even years and serve a two-year term.

What do Precinct Delegates do?
Attend Republican County Conventions: Generally, there are four county conventions during the two-year term.

Elect Local Party Leadership: Precinct Delegates elect the At-Large Executive Committee Members at the county and district levels and have the opportunity to serve on sub-committees.

Elect Delegates to the State and National Conventions: Precinct Delegates elect fellow delegates to represent the county and district at the Michigan Republican Party State Conventions and choose electors to represent their district and the state at the Republican National Convention.

Serve as Local Precinct Leaders: Precinct Delegates help Republicans in their area register to vote, share information on issues and candidates with their neighbors, help turn out Republican voters, and more!

How do I become a Precinct Delegate?
A completed and notarized precinct delegate affidavit form must be submitted to your county clerk no later than 4 pm, Tues. May 5, 2026. The affidavit and instructions can be printed from the Michigan Secretary of State’s website. Your name will appear on the August 4 Republican Primary ballot. Remember to vote for yourself!
