The Eastside Republican Club will host candidates running for statewide offices in 2026 at its next forum, Tuesday, Nov. 18, at The War Memorial, 32 Lakeshore, Grosse Pointe Farms.
Candidates who have confirmed their attendance are Anthony Forlini, Amanda Love, Timothy Smith and Monica Yatooma, who are running for secretary of state; Doug Lloyd, who is running for attorney general; and Shelly Wright, who is running for State Senate, District 12.
Candidates for the secretary of state and attorney general on the Republican ticket will be chosen by delegates at the Endorsement Convention held March 28, 2026, at the Suburban Collection in Detroit.
“The mid-term election in 2026 will be the prime opportunity to change the direction of our state with two of the most important administrative positions being that of secretary of state and attorney general,” said Renee Strobl, Eastside Republican Club chairwoman. “Currently we have an unlawful and politically partisan secretary of state and an attorney general whose case was dismissed by the courts after having filed bogus felony charges against 2020 Michigan Republican electors.”
A successful midterm for the Republicans also would mean flipping the upper legislative chamber from Democrat control. They could be one seat closer should Wright win her race against incumbent Kevin Hertel.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and all are welcome.
